The challenge

Students work independently or in groups to plan and run a project addressing a real-world STEM problem.

No two CREST projects are the same! Students can do different types of projects on any STEM subject.

Available resources

Download inspirational project ideas from the resource library. The secondary getting started and Silver student guides are full of useful hints and tips to help you run CREST with your students.

The outcome

CREST Silver has been shown to improve GCSE grades, promote continued interest in STEM subjects and can be used to enhance students’ UCAS personal statements.

Students who gain a Silver Award receive a personalised certificate.

Project submission

Upload students’ project work and key information via the online platform.

Assessment

The students or teacher submit the project, as well as each team member’s profile form, to the online platform. Silver Awards are assessed online by a trained CREST assessor. They are all experts from industry, academia or the education sector.

Projects are assessed against the CREST assessment criteria. View our guidance of what’s expected at Silver level, with examples.
